Property Inspector/Vector Control

Department:  City

Status:  Contract

Job Summary:

Inspect properties for ordinance violations.  Remit list of properties, by address, in violation to City Clerk.  Follow up on properties as per abatement deadlines.  Spray vector chemicals as scheduled, up to three (3) evenings weekly, at dusk.  Other relative duties, as assigned by supervisor.

Pay and Benefits:

$10.00 hourly, paid as contractor and issued a 1099 for tax purposes

Qualifying Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED.

Valid Alabama Driver’s License with acceptable record.

Water Department Laborer

Department:  Water

Status:  Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

Assigned to varying assignments within the department.  Duties shall include, but not limited to: read meters, make water taps, install water lines, fix leaks in meter boxes, change out curb stops and corporation stops, fix road cuts, dress up ditch work on water and sewer taps, do work orders, turn on and off meters for nonpayment, maintenance work on water tanks, work on booster pumps, keep grass and shrubs cleaned up at water tanks and booster pumphouse, paint the same, and various maintenance and electrical repairs.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Various maintenance and repair work with in the Water Department.
  2. Expansion and repair of New Hope Water System.
  3. Conducts himself/herself in a manner consistent with high ethical standards.
  4. Performs other related departmental duties as assigned by proper authority.
  5. Subject to on-call status after normal working hours for assistance with calls and should have a response time of no more than 30 minutes.

Starting Pay and Benefits:

  • $11.34 hourly negotiable with experience
